Web Analytics: Why they’re so Important for Creating and Building Your Brand

Metrics and analytics help guide entrepreneurs because they can be used to create and build strong brands. Analytics tell an internet marketer or website owner what’s happening on their site… what’s not happening… and perhaps most importantly… WHY.

If you see that your traffic picks up suddenly but you’re not sure WHY, then it’s going to be next to impossible for you to be able to duplicate and build upon those results. Web analytics also help us as business owners to recognize when something’s just not working and when we need to pull the plug.

We can’t afford to ignore the numbers but if you’re like me, you may not always have a chance to look at your web analytics and metrics as in-depth as you would like to, and let’s face it – some of us just aren’t that skilled at figuring out what the numbers are trying to tell us.

A lot of entrepreneurs are Idea People. And there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. Without innovative ideas and inspiration, nothing exciting or new would ever happen or be created. And that wouldn’t be we a whole lot of fun now, would it? If you’re an Idea Person, don’t be ashamed of it. Fly your Idea Person Flag high.

At the same time, it’s important to realize our limitations and to outsource or delegate the things we need done but aren’t great at doing ourselves. For me, that includes analyzing web analytics.

Web analytics give website owners a road map that helps them identify potential problems and their solutions. They allow us to test our ideas and to receive concrete metrics to help us analyze our results. The objective data we get from our analytics help us to identify weak areas of our branding and to strengthen them before it’s too late. Analytics can even help us establish our brand and differentiate it from all the other guys out there.

The iPad 2 – Not Just a cool Gadget, it’s a Powerful Business Tool

If you’ve been considering buying the folks in your office an iPad 2, it’s probably a pretty solid business investment. With the array of apps and features to the newest iPads, they not only make worked happier, but businesses more profitable as well.
Our favorite iPad Apps for Startups and Small Businesses:
  • Facebook – the free app that gives you access to Facebook. Obviously with a small business, you gotta get on Facebook for those all important social networking moments.
  • TweetDeck – great for your marketing genius moments with Twitter
  • WordPress – blog and manage your WordPress sites from anywhere
  • Photoshop Express – edit your photos for WordPress, Twitter, Facebook and more with this simple photo editing app
  • Pomodoro – potentially the greatest iPad app for tracking and productivity
  • Dropbox – killer for file access with in-the-cloud backup. It gives you mobile access to the files you need and allows for file syncing between computers
  • Omnioutliner – pretty much what it sounds like, this app helps you organize your thoughts and plan stuff. You can collect, compose, and rearrange text. This app helps you keep your notes neat and organized
  • Ego – the appropriately (and humorously) named app for stat checking. Now you can check a variety of metrics all in one place including Google Analytics, Feedburner and more.
  • Goodreader or iAnnotate PDF – ebook readers apps that are great for business owners. Obviously there are tons of e-reading apps out there but if you’re like me, you wanna highlight important points and create notes that you can come back to later. That is, of course, unless you have a photographic memory…  in which case… bravo.
  • Instapaper – processing information is obviously very important to any business. I love this app because whenever I find something I’d like to read but not at that particular moment, I send it to “read later” and it’s archived for me to check out later.
  • Calcbot – this fun little app is basically a big calculator. Not impressed? Well it also keeps a sort of virtual tape of all of your calulations that you can even email to yourself (which is super cool)
  • Ideabook – (previously called Ideawell) – helps you enter, track, rate and even visualize your ideas about potential, innovation, uniqueness, and simplicity
  • Plaintext – great for a basic writing app. I generallyd don’t use my iPad for large documents or presentations, so I don’t need an over-stuffed wosrd processing app. Plaintext is perfect for jotting down all the little thoughts and ideas I need to write somewhere (other than the palm of my hand)

Working on the go has never been so easy. Now you can handle your web content, employee management, customer service, marketing and more all from your iPad.

And honestly here, working on the go has also never been so fun.
